What is the best play to make when you are delt pocket rockets... Do you check/call before the flop or Do you raise right off the bat?

Personally I check/call before the flop, I have seen Pocket Aces drain chip stacks to many times.  It is a strong pair (the strongest) but it still just a pair.

My opinion... Wait to see the flop, and of course see how the table bets, look at all the possible ways you could loose.  if you see a pair on the board and someone with a decent chip stack bets heavy on the turn, think before you call/raise.

If you haven't improved your hand before that last river card is dealt, do not go all in.  I'm not saying fold...

I'm just saying Rule #1 is the most important rule of rounding, in my opinion...

Rule #1: Always leave yourself outs...

Unless you have someone still to who's creating a lot of action by raising limpers, the standard play of betting your normal amount is generally best.  I see it time and time again where people limp AA, get in a four- or five-way pot where they're barely or even no favored because no one narrows the field, and then whine when someone outdraws them.

I'm going to make a substantial raise, preflop.  Bet enough to get rid of the trash hands.  Once the flop comes put out another good bet.  If someone calls, be careful.  Don't be afraid to fold if it looks like there may be a straight or flush.
