Maybe the most valuable tip I ever got
« on: August 31, 2008, 05:45:08 PM »
I was fortunate enough to get this tip quite soon after I started playing online, and following it allowed me to be a winning player right away - and at a win rate measured in dollars per hour, not cents.  It's to learn to play a solid ABC game - and then actually to play it while you work on adding in additional elements and plays.

so how is this tip supposed to help me?  what's an abc game?
it is better to have it and not need it than to need it and not have it.

I think what hes saying is to play very conservative at first. Play only solid solid hands..Stay tight, and be patient..Then from that you slowly work on adding little things to your game. Like a solid bluff, or a read on a player!!

I agree with sheepies view!  I use four different strategies and four different betting patterns, for sixteen different styles to slap opponents with!  At first get 20 favorite hold cards.  Play free rolls with those 20 hands written in front of you, the only time you change your choice is when big or small blind comes around.  Even if you lose with them learn there are times to fold even when you have winning hand.  Just build up your personal discipline factor from that exercise.

If you can do that or already doing it without feeling your emotions popping into your thought process.  Well then and only then you are ready for an other strategy or the letter b.

Be conservative at first then grow or do you not like the results I have posted in the past?

Control your self first ( you can not use any emotions in your decisions, the cards and chips do not have emotions ).

Discipline,  discipline,  discipline or you are not going to teach yourself some thing new!

Rome was not built in a day nor will your strategies and playing styles.

It take patience's to be discipline by the way.

i seem to be short on patience a lot lately.
it is better to have it and not need it than to need it and not have it.

I saw the ABC list of starting hands posted somewhere once. It was all the standard very strong starting NLH hands taken from a Pro,s book. Simple but effective for novice players. And as Arjon suggested learn more as you go.

thats a good tip for new players only play
good hands than when you get better at
the game than you can play different type s
off hands.
Solution to the glass is half full - half empty ......

If you are taken something out of the glass than its half empty if you are putting something in the glass than its half full..
